Green Beauty Alternatives
As I continue to evolve and grow with my blog I question the true intentions of it. Initially I set it up so I had one place where clients could see my work . But as I come up with new ideas I am more interested in being able to share relevant and valuable information to my readers. And as I strive to be conscious in my home, with my body and my work I would also like to find that balance with my blog.
My first contribution is writing an article to celebrate Earth Day for yummymummyclub.ca. I give honest solutions for green beauty alternatives that my family uses in our household.
I would also like to pass on this valuable website that allows you to check the safety of any of your beauty products. It is an American website and it is difficult to find smaller Canadian lines. But they do offer good info on the major cosmetic lines. Grab your makeup bag and find their ratings at the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep Cosmetic Database.

Tara Spencer Nairn & Touche Eclat
I was called to do Hair & Makeup for Tara Spencer-Nairn for a segment on the Listener to promote their new season. Tara appeared on etalk with an intuitive medium expert. Click on the image to see what she predicts for her future.
I also found out that her must-have makeup product is the Yves Saint Laurent touche eclat!
This eye brightener is magic to anyone who wants to brighten under the eye. You can also use this to highlight around the lip area and inner and outer corner of the eye. If I can wish one thing for everyone’s kit it would be touche eclat!
Spring blooms with Jeanne Beker & Michelle Mawby
The weather hasn’t convinced me that Spring has arrived but I do get a sense of Spring when special guests such as, Jeanne Beker and Michelle Mawby come through my makeup chair to do Fashion & Interior Design Segments on the Marilyn Denis Show. Click on images to watch the segments.

Juno’s Blitz
Juno’s weekend started with the JUNO’s Fan Fare that was hosted by TRexx and Lauren Toyota, with Liz Trinnear working the media room. The evening then led into the Juno’s Gala where most of the awards where announced and Melissa Grelo mastered the media room. The next day there were red carpets held by both the Much crew and the CP24 crew. Here are some makeup highlights of the jam packed weekend!!

The closest I’ll get to Elton John, Lady Gaga and Jordan Knight?!
So in the last few months I got really up close and personal with some major music icons. And although I may not consider Jordan Knight from NKOTB an icon I know there are quite a few of out there that do. Oh did I say I got really up close and personal…actually it was just my makeup that got to be that close, but I’ll take that anyday.
First was the appearance of Elton John on the red Carpet for the opening of Billie Elliot in Toronto. Melissa Grelo asked me to do her hair and makeup as she did a special red carpet interview with Elton. Click here to view the video. The show can be seen at the Canon Theatres and runs from Tuesday to Sunday.
The next close encounter was with Lady Gaga. She came into Toronto on March 3rd for her “Monster Ball” Tour. While she was in the city Lauren Toyota of Much Music got to interview her. She popped in to get her makeup done and requested for her makeup to be similar to what we did the previous day, which was inspired by her lime-green leopard scarf. Watch out for Lauren’s interview on Much sometime in April/May.
More recently Jordan Knight, of NKOTB, did a massive media tour to promote his new single, “Let’s go Higher,” which you can download now on iTunes. I didn’t think I would have a chance to touch him up since he had been doing things all morning and I assumed he would have makeup already. But then he was added to the noon show. HAIR FX JOINED FORCED WITH THEM TO CREATING A FUNDRAISING EVENT/HAIR SHOW, “MIDWINTER’S NIGHT DREAM.” I WAS SO THANKFUL COLLABORATE WITH JANEY AGAIN. I ALSO GOT A PLEASANT SURPRISE SEEING AND WORKING WITH SIDE BY SIDE ARTISTS FROM MY MAC DAYS, MARCY & TANNIS, WHO NOW SUCCESSFULLY RUN ‘PRETTY WICKED MAKEUP‘ IN WINNIPEG.
||MORE RECENTLY I HAD THE HONOR OF MAKING UP ONE OF MY ECO HEROES ADRIA VASIL FOR THE MARILYN DENIS SHOW. ADRIA IS AUTHOR OF MY FAVORITE HOUSEHOLD BOOK, “ECOHOLIC HOME”, THAT I USE FOR THE BEST ADVICE FOR WHICH BRANDS OFFER THE BEST RESULTS IN ECO PRODUCTS.

SO EVERY MAKEUP ARTIST DREAMS OF WORKING AND STARTING ON A NEW SHOW TO CARE FOR LIKE IT WAS THERE BABY. AND JUST BEFORE CHRISTMAS THE MAKEUP FAIRY SHOWED UP AND ASKED ME TO WORK ON THE NEW MUCHMUSIC SHOW NEW MUSIC LIVE. BUT INSTEAD OF HAVING ONLY TILL MIDNIGHT I HAD 2 WEEKS. IT WAS A CHALLENGING AND EXCITING EXPERIENCE. THANKS TO MAKEUP ARTIST LUCKY B OF MTV FOR MENTORING ME AND DESIGNING THE LOOKS. THE MOMENT I MET GORDON PINSENT I WAS CHARMED BY HIS SWEETNESS AND SINCERITY- IT COULD HAVE BEEN BECAUSE HE GREETED ME WITH A KISS ON THE BACK OF THE HAND; WHICH MAY SEEM VERY OLD FASHIONED BUT IN MY OPINION SHOULD STILL BE PART OF GREETING RITUALS. HUGH DILLON MAKES THE CUT FOR BEST OF 2010 NOT ONLY BECAUSE HE IS A GEMINI AWARD WINNING ACTOR. IT ISN’T EVEN BECAUSE HE IS ON TWO CONCURRENT HIT SERIES DURHAM COUNTY AND FLASHPOINT OR BECAUSE HE ROCKS OUT WITH HIS BAND WORKS WELL WITH OTHERS. I WAS FIRST INTRODUCED TO THE SHOW COMMUNITY WHEN I HAD THE CHANCE TO DO THE MAKEUP ON YVETTE NICOLE BROWN. ALISON BRIE AND DONALD GLOVER FOR BT, ALONGSIDE THE BT RESIDENT MAKEUP ARTIST TRACY PEART. LITTLE DID I KNOW THAT THE SHOW WOULD BE SEEN REGULARLY IN MY HOUSEHOLD AND THAT I WOULD ENJOY THEIR CHEMISTRY ON AND OFF SCREEN. DONALD WILL BE BACK IN TORONTO ON MAY 16 FOR HIS COMEDY SHOW “DONALD GLOVER + CHILDISH GAMBINO.”

I LOVED THIS RED CARPET LOOK. BEING THE NEWEST ADDITION TO THE MUCH VJ’S I REALLY FELT IT REPRESENTED THE FUN, YOUNG SPIRIT OF LIZ. THE WEEK PRIOR KATY PERRY WAS AT OUR BUILDING AND SEEING HER MAKEUP REALLY INSPIRED ME TO CREATE THIS FUTURISTIC BARBIE DOLL LOOK. CURRENTLY LIZ IS WORKING ON A WEB SERIES CALLED LIZ ONLINE!
SPRING INTO SUMMER
ESLY came through my studio for hair and makeup, for her Spring shoot at the distillery. Here are my fave pics! I love the contrast between the softness and honesty of the first shot and the edgy and mystery of the last. And the middle truly shows the sweetness of ESLY!

Lights came through MOD at Much Music to promote her new video, “Second Go” and doesn’t disappoint in adding to her collection of creative videos.
While I was touching up her makeup Toronto photographer, Caitlyn Cronenberg, stopped in to say hello. Caitlyn recently photographed Lights as she was recognized as one of the 50 most Beautiful Canadians in Hello Magazine’s May 13th issue.
Oddly enough, I had just encountered some of Caitlyn’s recent work at HBO Canada. She had shot the photographs for the press release of the new show,“Living in Your Car”.
I got called to do Hair & Makeup for the press interviews for John Ralston and Ingrid Kavelaars, and after hearing their take and seeing the first episode I am sure this will be another HBO series that will be on everyone’s fave list.
I have had the amazing opportunity to cross paths with Grace Dubery, Yoga Instructor and Teacher at TULA , Yoga Ambassador for LuLuLemon and Reporter for the OMNI Portugese broadcast.
I have been working with Grace to slowly use makeup to naturally emphasize her features for television since she is use to wearing very little. Normally we do a soft neutral eye with some definition on the lashline and then we go for a bolder lip color to add some color.
When Grace asked me to do her makeup for the Brazilian Ball 2010 I was excited to give her a bolder eye for the first time. To ease her in to a more dramatic look I created a smokey look by adding alittle more extra eyeliner and smudging the line with a smokey green eye shadow!
Through time we discovered we both have an adoration for Classic CHANEL colors, including lip liner in ROUGE NOIR, lip gloss in PARTY RED and of course the matching nail vernis in ROUGE NOIR!
If I were to name one other person who has great appreciation for CHANEL it would be Nalini Sharma, CP24′s Weather Specialist from CP24 Breakfast. Not only does Nalini love CHANEL’s nail vernis and lipglosses she also appreciates the Classic CHANEL packaging that she even displays her CHANEL nail vernis like pieces of art in her washroom, with a backsplash similar to that in the picture. This glamorous wall is fitting for any CHANEL backdrop or the main entrance wall for the Grand Prize Home in the Princes Magaret Lottery. I was called on set in the early morn for makeup for Nalini as she hosted the drawing of the prizes live on CP24. Congratulations to all the winners, especially the one who will be enjoying this beautiful soaker tub!

NOYL Entertainment presents ESLY
NOYL Entertainment contacted me to help launch their new artist, ESLY, for her first performance at Kollaboration 2010. Esly collaborated with Stephen Chang to win 1st place at the Annual Korean Canadian Talent Show. Keep your ears tuned for Esly’s first track, Unfair, hitting radio waves as we speak.
Elsy’s hair design started with soft waves that were directed to one side to compliment her gorgeous one-strap dress. With her makeup, we wanted a matte-satin complexion and attained the look with Yaby cream foundation. And we created a smokey, budgeproof eye with Makeup Forever Waterproof Creme Liner. The lips needed to be accentuated and we used Mac‘s new Creamsheen Glass in LOUD & LOVELY to play off the beautiful bright pink dress.
